As a talented young woman, Sharon McCaugherty had few career options. Through hard work, self study, and formal college education later in her life, she was able to build a career as an information technology professional, ending her career as an FBI employee. Demonstrating the talents of hard working West Virginia women in STEM fields, she contributed to successful projects at NASA, the Department of Defense, and the FBI. She blazed a trail for herself and had a passion for enabling young women to pursue STEM (Sciences, Engineering, Technology, Mathematics) careers.
Sharon lost her battle with pancreatic cancer on May 17th, 2019, and until the very end of her life, she was determined to support young women in achieving their goals. She was a native of Lumberport, WV, and graduated from Lincoln High School. Now, her family is honoring Sharon’s vision through the Sharon McCaugherty Memorial Scholarship Foundation, a non-profit corporation.
All raised funds will be transferred to the Sharon McCaugherty Memorial Foundation.
