Biometrics Field Support Engineer

Job Description:

Athena Sciences is hiring a Biometrics Field Support Engineer to deliver on-site and remote technical support for biometric collection and identification systems deployed in military, law enforcement, and allied operational environments. This role is mission-critical to ensuring uptime, reliability, and usability of fielded biometric platforms such as SEEK, HIIDE, BAT, Javelin, and modern mobile biometric systems.

As a Field Support Engineer, you will travel globally to set up and maintain biometric kits, support hardware and software configurations, and provide direct assistance to operators in high-tempo and austere conditions. Responsibilities include conducting routine diagnostics, implementing system updates, and training end users on biometric workflows and best practices. You will interface directly with U.S. and allied government clients and act as the first line of technical escalation for all in-theater issues.

The ideal candidate brings a combination of field engineering experience, familiarity with tactical communications and data security, and a hands-on approach to problem-solving. You must be adaptable, able to work independently in operational environments, and committed to supporting national security missions in forward-leaning locations.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of technical support or systems maintenance experience with biometric or computing systems.
  • Prior experience supporting DoD biometric platforms (e.g., SEEK II, HIIDE, BAT, or Tactical Biometric Equipment Sets).
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting biometric sensors, ruggedized mobile kits, secure networks, and field applications.
  • Ability to deploy globally with minimal notice and maintain operational readiness in austere environments.
  • Skilled in customer training and documentation of operational use and system incidents.
  • Strong understanding of hardware/software interaction, data integrity, and secure data transmission.
  • Comfortable working with classified data and following strict chain-of-custody procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for issue reporting and stakeholder coordination.
  • Active Secret clearance with SCI eligibility required.
  • Must provide three professional references including a previous supervisor.
