Biometric Systems Delivery Engineer

Job Description:

Athena Sciences is hiring a Biometric Systems Delivery Engineer to lead the deployment, configuration, and client integration of our secure biometric identification platforms. This role is critical to ensuring successful delivery and operational readiness of Athena’s multimodal biometric solutions—including AEGIS ABIS™ and Themis™—for our government and defense clients. This position serves as both a technical lead and product integrator, responsible for translating mission requirements into working system configurations.

As a Biometric Systems Delivery Engineer, you will act as the bridge between client-facing needs and internal development processes. You will define and validate system specifications, oversee end-to-end system deployment (cloud and on-premise), and lead user acceptance testing. In agile environments, you will serve as a proxy product manager—creating user stories, setting priorities, and supporting sprint delivery. The role involves frequent collaboration with cross-functional teams including software developers, QA testers, field support engineers, and customer stakeholders.

This position requires technical depth in enterprise architectures, biometric standards (e.g., NIST, EBTS), and government system delivery. Candidates must be detail-oriented, mission-focused, and capable of managing complex implementations under tight deadlines.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience delivering enterprise software or biometric identification systems to federal customers.
  • Proven ability to translate customer requirements into system specifications and delivery plans.
  • Familiarity with biometric standards such as NIST ITL, EBTS, and ISO/IEC 19794-5.
  • Experience with AWS GovCloud, Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Demonstrated success managing Agile backlogs, sprint planning, and cross-functional delivery teams.
  • Ability to lead customer engagements and serve as a primary technical point of contact.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Must provide three professional references including a previous supervisor.
